Assistant Lecturer at Haramaya University in the Department of Rural Development & Agricultural Extension.
My ever wish is, to see a generation who ain't elapse most of the time on editing and sharing face book jargons.
I wish to see peoples of my time to make use of information through ICT, though they used to criticize farmers from being low adopters of the technologies disseminated;  they themselves, seems, don't know how to use Web 2.0 or the social networking & sharing media.
Obviously, city based peoples of our time are capable and willing to consume and on technical skills of new technologies; however to operate is far different and low level compared to utilization and making use of something.
I sometimes laugh alone, when i see peoples are dying to save their time for surfing webs: i was amazed and happy on the dynamism and asked myself, where do the younger generation is going on? After all, things came to be clear and all the people were flooding to use internet only for the purpose of entertaining social media such as face book, you tube, hi5, perf spot, dire tube and such kind of.  This is not my head ache, still one can make use of social networking webs for developmental campaign,  job searching, share competition, grants and funds for research, scholarships and many more. Moreover, they could contribute in local content development for ease of information sharing and resource sharing.

what put me painful was happened not long ago. I saw that many peoples were satisfied on sharing pictures, video links, personal status, chat, and many more but none of couldn't add even a drop towards development. We, the people who, came across frequent and many official food and assistance aid for almost  half a century; can we really have a time to chill in such a way? I don't think so. Not to be pessimist, but how on earth a man coul possibly chill while his belly ain't got enough? That is what peoples of my time are doing. Die trying to make a fun while millions of our sista & broth are crying for a bread; and know that all the academic  infrastructures, that we use to learn up to college/university, were build on the expense of those kids with the hope that we can change & make Ethiopia the better place for the man of tomorrow through education. But I fear we could do what is logically expected with having the current views towards our responsibility and greedy own-self.

We all are accessing this connectivity on the expense of the poor, who counts 80% of the 90,000,000 people. Here, we are chatting for fun while kids are dying of hunger in the rural. We are wasting golden resources while farmers are crying for basic necessity, food!

Let it be and let's use more resources than the group which contribute 80% of the population, cause that is the rule of power. The majority leads.
But, I here once again beg you, even though we don't have plenty to help them, lets utilize ICT resources and assets to share information for development that we built on the expense of them.
