Jamnalal Bajaj Awards 2012 – India

The Awards recognize constructive work in the area of rural development, application of science and technology, development of women and child, and promotion of Gandhian values outside India. The awards are given to suitably reward and honour the efforts of men and women who have dedicated their life to Gandhian work and ideals which Mr Jamnalal Bajaj, a close associate and fifth adopted son of Gandhiji, had cherished all his life.
The awards given by the Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation were set up to continue the legacy of Late Mr Jamnalal Bajaj to serve the society.
Three national awards are given to individuals for their efforts in the aforesaid areas and an international award is given to an individual working towards the promotion of Gandhian thoughts and holding a foreign passport and nationality.

Views of ADO: Strives for ease in information sharing for development

  1. The Jamnalal Bajaj Awards 2012 event was held on 20th December, 2012 at 5:30 pm at Yashwantrao Chavan Centre, in Mumbai. Winners of the awards were presented with cash worth Rs. 500,000/- (five lakhs), a trophy and a citation each from the Chief Guest - Dr. Justice C. S. Dharmadhikari (Chairman, Council of Advisors, Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation). Awards were received by Shri Jaywant Mathkar for Constructive work, Shri Kalyan Paul for Science and Technology, Smt. Nighat Shafi for Development and Welfare of Women and Children and Prof. Glenn Paige was presented the International Award.
